I am a “jack of all trades”’. I am an actress, dancer, visual artist and I happen to do some baking on the side. My work is usually based on my personal experiences and upbringing as a black woman in America. I create stories, artworks and performances that stray away from the stereotypes and expectations that society places onto me and my people. It is my mission to cultivate spaces in which we can truly just exist, create art and not have to worry about the statistical value that follows us wherever we go.
As a black artist it is my duty to take up space in every room I may happen to walk into. Following that it is also my responsibility to make space for my black sisters and brothers. We will be in the room where it happens.
